A Letter to Chococurb Customers from Co-Founder and CEO Roger Ling

Dear Chococurb Members,

In December 2014, we launched Chococurb with the hope of surprising and delighting chocolate lovers everywhere by helping them discover wonderful, new chocolates. Every time a box arrived at their doorstep, they would immerse themselves in an incredibly exciting experience. Today, we want to share an important decision we have made.

Despite our best efforts adjusting strategy, improving efficiency, and investing in technology, it has become clear Chococurb has not grown as we anticipated. Following a thorough strategic review, we have reached the unfortunate conclusion we are not able to continue. As a result, we have decided to end our business immediately and begin navigating the closure process.

Even in the face of these unfortunate circumstances, I want to thank you for being a customer. You’ve given us your time, money, and support, which are some of the most valuable things you can share with someone. In closing, I’d like to express our deepest appreciation.

Whether you’ve been a Chococurb member for a few months or several years, I want you to know how much we value and are grateful for you. Though we are saying goodbye today, I hope we helped you discover extraordinary chocolate and you continue enjoying your new favorites.

How to Make the Perfect Chocolate Oatmeal

Your mornings are about to get a whole lot yummier.

Oatmeal might be the bane of your breakfast. You know it would be a truly healthy addition to your morning routine, but you just can’t get excited about that flavorless, sticky mass. However, there is a way to make oatmeal a truly scrumptious treat…CHOCOLATE. It only takes a few quick ingredients to make an oatmeal dish you will rave about!

To make this heavenly breakfast, first toast the oats in a pan with butter for a few minutes. That will give the oats a caramelized touch. Then, bring 1 cup water to a boil in a small pan. Next, mix in a tablespoon of unsweetened cocoa into your boiling water, and add 1/2 cup oats. Decrease the heat to medium, and stir the oats occasionally while they simmer for 5 minutes. Dish into a bowl, and now you have a delectable cocoa-infused oatmeal!

Once the oatmeal is in your bowl, it’s time to add other delicious ingredients to it. Chopped almonds or walnuts are a great addition, and try a touch of honey or milk. Even fresh berries or a cut-up banana taste good with chocolate oatmeal!

You can also make this same recipe the night before, and let it sit overnight in the fridge so that it’s ready to go in the morning. In a sealable jar or container, add a 1/2 cup water, 1/2 cup milk, tablespoon of cocoa powder, and add the 1/2 cup oats. Place in your fridge that night, and let the magic happen. In the morning, you will have a creamy, chocolatey concoction that only needs your additional toppings! This breakfast is super easy, and you will love the smooth texture.

Saturday, July 7th was International Chocolate Day! It supposedly marks the day when chocolate was first brought to Europe in 1550, and chocolate-lovers around the world have been celebrating since 2009. Although we appreciate these divine sweets every day, we always love an excuse to celebrate. Here were some of the ways various companies decided to partake in the festivities, and mark your calendars for more chocolate holidays coming up!


Krispy Kreme brought back its popular chocolate glazed donut in more than 29 countries and six continents. The last time this delicious donut chain offered this ultra-chocolately take on their original glazed donut was for the solar eclipse in August of 2017. Although it was a fan-favorite, it was only available for 24 hours.

It’s hot in Florida, but Disney World made the trek to the park worth it with free chocolate samples at their Ghirardelli Soda Fountain & Chocolate Shop. What’s better than eating chocolate while posing with Mickey Mouse?

Max Brenner, which has locations in New York, Boston, and Philadelphia, served up its new baked hot chocolate. This tasty treat has a rich chocolate center, another pure chocolate layer, and then a choice of three toppings. It also offered a free regular hot chocolate with every baked one ordered.

GoAir Airlines, based out of Mumbai, India, passed out free chocolate on-board. They operate over 140 flights to over 23 cities daily. Now that’s one way to travel!

Did you miss out on World Chocolate Day? No worries, because there are more chocolate holidays year-round! Be on the look-out for National Milk Chocolate Day, coming up soon on July 28th.
