5 Simple Chocolatey Treats for this Summer

5 Simple Chocolatey Treats for this Summer

Ready to sweeten-up your summer? It’s almost that time of year again: warm, gentle breezes and shimmering, sunny days. Get ready for the rapidly approaching summer by trying out these simple chocolate recipes—PERFECT for hot, lazy days.

1. Frozen Mango and Pineapple with White Chocolate

Bring these to your next BBQ! Cut up mango and pineapple into small chunks. Then, place 4-5 pieces on a skewer, and squeeze fresh lime over them. Drizzle white chocolate, and repeat! Once you have all your skewers ready, place onto a pan and freeze for a few hours.

2. Chocolate-Filled Strawberries

Try this twist on the typical chocolate-dipped strawberries dessert. First, cut out a small hole into the top of each strawberry; then, line them up tightly in a pan with sides so that they are packed in and won’t topple over. Melt some chocolate. (Dark chocolate is yummy for this recipe!) Pour the melted chocolate into the top of the strawberries, and put the pan into the fridge. Munch on this frozen treat to cool off after a day in the sun, or serve as a refreshing dessert.

3. Chocolate Blueberry Smoothie

This smoothie will be the ideal addition to your day. Grab the following ingredients:

1 cup frozen blueberries
Dark chocolate pieces
1 cup milk
2 teaspoons cocoa powder
Dash of vanilla
Dash of cinnamon

Mix all together in a blender, and pour into a glass. This smoothie contains the antioxidants from blueberries and the health benefits of dark chocolate. (Read more about the healthiness of dark chocolate here). Enjoy!

4. Frozen Chocolate-Covered Banana Slices

What tastes just as good as ice cream but is way healthier? THIS. Cut a few bananas into small, bite-size slices. Place a strip of parchment paper onto a pan. Melt a bar of dark chocolate (at least 3oz), and then use toothpicks to dip the banana slices into the melted chocolate. Place onto the parchment paper, and freeze for a few hours. Warning: You might become addicted to this treat!

5. Homemade Chocolate Milk

This is a simple and fun drink to make. Instead of using store-bought chocolate powder, make your own version! Grab your favorite bar of chocolate (try one of our delicious bars here). Melt down the bar, and then mix in your favorite type of milk. Refrigerate for a few hours, and BOOM—you have fresh chocolate milk.

Summer is a great time to try out simple recipes, and chocolate-themed desserts are always a big hit. What better way to celebrate warm weather than with chocolate?
