How to Make the Perfect Chocolate Oatmeal

Oatmeal might be the bane of your breakfast. You know it would be a truly healthy addition to your morning routine, but you just can’t get excited about that flavorless, sticky mass. However, there is a way to make oatmeal a truly scrumptious treat…CHOCOLATE. It only takes a few quick ingredients to make an oatmeal dish you will rave about!

To make this heavenly breakfast, first toast the oats in a pan with butter for a few minutes. That will give the oats a caramelized touch. Then, bring 1 cup water to a boil in a small pan. Next, mix in a tablespoon of unsweetened cocoa into your boiling water, and add 1/2 cup oats. Decrease the heat to medium, and stir the oats occasionally while they simmer for 5 minutes. Dish into a bowl, and now you have a delectable cocoa-infused oatmeal!

Once the oatmeal is in your bowl, it’s time to add other delicious ingredients to it. Chopped almonds or walnuts are a great addition, and try a touch of honey or milk. Even fresh berries or a cut-up banana taste good with chocolate oatmeal!

You can also make this same recipe the night before, and let it sit overnight in the fridge so that it’s ready to go in the morning. In a sealable jar or container, add a 1/2 cup water, 1/2 cup milk, tablespoon of cocoa powder, and add the 1/2 cup oats. Place in your fridge that night, and let the magic happen. In the morning, you will have a creamy, chocolatey concoction that only needs your additional toppings! This breakfast is super easy, and you will love the smooth texture.
