When Theo opened its factory in Seattle's quirky Fremont neighborhood in 2006, it was the first organic and Fair Trade bean-to-bar chocolate factory in North America. Founder Joe Whinney first pioneered the supply of organic cocoa beans into the U.S. in 1994 and continues to make chocolate using only the purest ingredients, grown in the most sustainable ways possible. "It’s about the land, the people, the dedication and the interconnected relationships that bind us all," he says. Every bar produced meets the highest standards for organic, Fair Trade, and Fair for Life.
